Part deux of my love for this label… As previously mentioned in my last style post, Island Company is a brand that sells mainly resort wear/ linen clothing–let me just say that this is your destination for well-made, vacation wear. But as seen here and elsewhere, I wear this brand anywhere. 😉 Featured in this look is their Moonshade Hamilton Dress with the Landlubber Gentleman shirt tied around my neck for that extra unfussy flair. The cream pebbled clutch from Me Char Handbags is possibly one of my favorites, as the texture is so buttery and supple. It’s also spacious enough to carry all my essentials for the day.
We were driving by the Baha’i Temple in Winnetka (if you’re ever in the area, you should check it out–it’s monumental and absolutely gorgeous) and stopped by there to take these photos. I can spend hours there admiring the intricately carved details on the pillars and staring at the impeccably maintained gardens and fountains. It really is a breathtakingly beautiful and serene place.
Enjoy the photos-
Al fresco only. Expat on Green is a Chicago pop-up restaurant that is only open in the summer, weather permitting. It’s right next to Nellcôte in the West Loop, which is how I first came across this place. They’re known for their Rosé snow cones, which I hear is deliciously refreshing… We went for a light lunch/snack and ordered a plate of raw veggies, ahi tuna, and burrata. A perfect amount of food to feel refueled and re-energized. The dishes were not only aesthetically pleasing but quite tasty as well. If you are looking for an off-the-beaten-path kind of dining option, definitely check out Expat. Great photo opps here with all the summer colors in the food and décor! Lovely white marble tables too…It is in the heart of West Loop surrounded by stalwarts like Nellcôte, Soho House, and Sawada Coffee.
Take a peek at their menu here.

I find linen to be one of the best fabrics for the summer. Comfortable on the skin yet a bit more “done-up”/elegant alternative to your usual chinos, linen also conjures up images of vacationers on a tropical island, soaking in the sun and making imprints on the beautiful white sand. For linen options, look no further than Island Company to deliver your resort attire needs for vacationing on islands from Santorini to Bora Bora. Or, as seen in this case, you can also just wear them out on the city streets. 🙂 I love how the fit of these Island Company linen shorts (now only available in white here) is so effortless. Because of the high quality, the shape of these linen shorts stays crisp and structured. And another bonus point? They don’t wrinkle easily so you can wear them around all day without looking sloppy. The neon orange open-back blouse from A.L.C. here enhances this undemanding look by providing an airy, uncalculated feel…
The necklace I’m wearing in this outfit is one of my favorites; it’s from COS. The two pieces stay together because they are magnetic. In order to take it off, you just pull them apart; no need to fuss around with clasps. Did you notice the small magnets on the necklace? While I was at school, my friend and I were goofing around and took French word magnets from the fridge in our dorm and made a sentence on my necklace. They read “elle est triste” meaning “she is sad”. Don’t look into it! We didn’t have a lot of words to work with.
Last but not least, the shoes! These Ja-Vie flats are life-savers. I mean it, they are so comfortable, and they honestly feel like you are walking barefoot. There are these cushions inside that provide the most effective support for the balls of your feet. I’m not so sure about the exact engineering of the shoes that makes them so comfy. I only know that they feel great. These Ja-Vie flats come in various colors and patterns–I have some glittery ones, too (both are equally lovable). You will definitely see me in them this summer as I love doing day to day tasks with these classic, snug shoes…:-) (now on amazon!)
